It can be seen the cost of water lost is significant. Savings in the range of 50% to 80% can be reasonably expected by utilizing the proper packing materials and techiques.

Note: These calculations do not include the cost of burning off flushing water, diluting the semi-finished product, estimated as high as $1.25 per gallon. Similary, the cost of water reclamation through waste treatment or other means is not included. Obviously, the more flushing water eliminated from the process the greater the savings in terms of burn off and reclamation costs. Ancillary savings in general building and equipment maintenance also will be realized.
